This argument is more senseless than the way America exited Kabul. The Taliban is in the laps of China and Pakistan. China has no competition in reverse engineering and mass production of the same. Their fifth generation aircraft fighter is a result of reverse engineering of Sukhoi purchased from Russia.

The story of Afghanistan in India is under the thick clouds of internal security. It’s not just about the resurgence of terror outfits that look to revive Gazwa-i-Hind but also the fact that these outfits can be used in many ways by ISI and the Chinese.

On the other hand, the metaphor that American animosity is bad but American friendship is worse, is at full display. For decades India had been contesting America for its gifts of dollars and sophisticated American military equipment to Pakistan. Just as Donald Trump reaslised that even a few billions can't be gifted to Pakistan, Joe Biden has handed over military equipment worth $83 billion in one go. As they have become a laughing stock for the world, their top officials now say that most of the equipment have been defaced and damaged.

This argument is more senseless than the way America exited Kabul. The Taliban is in the laps of China and Pakistan. China has no competition in reverse engineering and mass production of the same. Their fifth generation aircraft fighter is a result of reverse engineering of Sukhoi purchased from Russia.

In a way, Biden has not just offered them fish but also introduced them to ‘how to catch fish.’

Just remember that Nawaz Sharif disclosed recently in his exile in London how he found an unexploded US missile in Balochistan was immediately sent to China for reverse engineering and mass production when he was the prime minister. In a way, Biden has weaponised three immediate and de facto enemies of India – China, Pakistan and militants. The Taliban spokesperson has declared that the matter of Kashmiri muslims is a matter of Taliban.

The movement of American weapons against India has already begun. Trucks of such material are being shifted to Pakistan from Afghanistan. Two Black Hawk helicopters were repaired two days back and now flying perfectly over Kabul. The ‘geo’ in geo-strategy or geo politics or geo geo-economics is ‘geography.’ Just look at the geography of this part of the world. Geography and demography of Kabul continues naturally to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muzaffarabad and Kashmir valley on the other end. Distance between the Afghan border and Line of Control is just 300-odd kilometers; now you may imagine the possibilities.

The internal security of India needs a relook. The Doval policy of ‘defensive offence’ should be real. Non-Alignment does not mean no alignment at all. Intelligence should remain atop to terminate danger where it germinates. The Central Asians along with Russia already want greater Indian engagement in the region in security. India’s defence forces need more capital acquisition. The present spree of integration of three armed forces should continue and ‘integrated battle groups’ are a welcome step. Our security agencies should also not shy away from creating their own assets, even if it has to be in the form of militia, in the Central Asian region as we are in a constant war with three de facto enemies.
