Again in 15th Lok Sabha he had 202 members and opposition number was quite robust. The country has seen PMs like PV Narasimha Rao, AB Vajpayee, VP Singh, HD Devegowda, IK Gujaral, Chandrasekhar and Manmohhan Singh, how boldly they run Parliament with razor thin majority in both the houses. MMS ran a minority government twice and Vajpayee thrice. None of them ran away from Parliament blaming the disruptive attitude of the opposition nor used force to corner MPs to pass a bill !

India is witnessing the worst days  in its history of Democracy .Recently it saw the blackest day in the history of parliamentary democracy in India.  The ruling party used police force by employing the marshals inside the august  Parliament cornering the opposition MPs when the Rajya Sabha  was in session. And during this war-like scene, the privatisation bill on general insurance was passed.

We have a great history of the functioning of Prime Ministers . PM Indira Gandhi without a clear cut majority of her faction, convinced the house and got V V Girl elected as India’s President.PM Manmohan Singh ran 14th Loksabha with 141 members from his party, while opposition BJP had 130 members.

A good house leader knows how to set smooth dialogues with the opposition. Only a weak, coward and incompetent leader behaves like a cry baby. Having absolute majority in both the houses, if a leader fails to run the Parliament, he must admit that he is a failure. In Indian democracy, cowards and failed leaders have always tried to become dictators. If there is no Parliament, there is no democracy. In Parliament, the rule is crystal clear. Running of the Parliament is the sole responsibility of the ruling party and squarely it's the responsibility of the Prime Minister, who is also leader of both the houses.

In the present situation,if the present dispensation believes in the parliament and parliamentary procedure,  the procedure has to be democratic.Opposition parties have logic to believe after being cornered by marshals for getting a controversial bill passed that government wants to rule India as the Mughal Emperors did in the past, not as the dynasty, but by force.

It is in the news that in  the proposed ‘Parliament Vista’ , there may be seating arrangement for 800 MPs.But, it is evident that the government is obsessed with its Hindutva agenda. The new parliament building should not become a Hindutva Monument as the country feels .

The Government of India has now decided to have a census of OBC population like SC , ST population in the past .States are now authorised to decide their respective OBCs and some states have gone a step further by approaching the Government of India for Constitutional Amendment to increase reservation in jobs beyond 50 percent . Some feel that this contravenes the right to equality . Once you accord a specific status, demand for jobs as per caste may emerge and that is the worst .

It reminds us of the incident of Mandal vrs Kamandal 30 years back? BJP destabilised VP Singh Government due to Mandal as Mandal, according to them, was dividing Hindus on caste basis. Now BJP is implementing what it discarded 30 years back.

All said and done, India is poised for facing the worst days of its democracy very soon and we have to be prepared for it.With repealing the controversial Farmers Law, it has become a Herculean Task !
