In the absence of a healthy system mixed with indifference of Government, the country is in a mess. The revised educational policy of the present government is a den of corruption and lethargy.God can save this country. A National Centre for Children’s Literature remained a dream for many like Dash Benhur and I.

This Government is not interested in Art and Culture. Schools have become commercial hubs.Online education has on the other hand created havoc. Many Educational thinkers like famous poet Prof  Dash Benhur and I too are worried. Dash Benhur has narrated his thoughts as follows:

‘Schools are not mere certificate vending institutions . Apart from the curriculum formalities ,they engage the pupils in various other extra-curricular activities like games, music, dance, drill, swimming, gardening, oratory, yoga etc. that help  children grow to the fullest extent.

Many of these activities can't happen without schools. Schools not only teach but also create an environment in which children get the scope to develop fellow feeling, love, tolerance and compassion for others.

That is what literature is mostly all about.

Compassion is the key concept in children's literature. It is such a tonic which  makes a child socially more relevant and upgrades his/her human standard.

Every child is a bundle of love and he must live up to that. Hatred, jealousy and discrimination simply kill childhood universally.

Schools have a lot of inputters. They are the teachers, the watchman, the office staff, the sweeper and also the guardians.

The school going child should learn to like and appreciate all of them as he does towards his own family members. ‘

Dash Benhur and I are scheduled to grace the Release Function of a Children’s Book next week at Kujang for the first time after almost two decades. NBT has possibly forgotten its longest serving head of the National Centre for Children’s Literature, but people have not !
