Dr Devsare involved me with Vigyan Prasar as a member of their Publication Committee.Dr Subodh Mohanty was there and he was a close follower of Dr Devsare like me.Together we worked for communicating science to children.

People of this country have been given to understand that Nehru was an opportunistic leader and state has stopped celebrating his birthday ,14 November as the Children's Day.Apart from Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the architect of Modern India, this is also the Death Anniversary of Dr Harikrishna Devsare, the architect of Modern Indian Children's Literature. He relentlessly worked for half a century to establish Children's Literature in the literary map of this country.

I had almost three decades long association with Dr Harikrishna Devsare. He had many close followers in Hindi ,but I was the only person from another Indian language...Odia.When Dr Madhu Pant was Director of Bal Bhawan, there used to be an annual meet of Indian Children's Literature.Dr Devsare was the de facto adviser. We used to meet there, read status papers and interact.Alas, nobody followed it up after Dr Madhu Pant retired ! I was interested to follow it up,but did not get a chance.

Dr Devsare involved me with Vigyan Prasar as a member of their Publication Committee.Dr Subodh Mohanty was there and he was a close follower of Dr Devsare like me.Together
we worked for communicating science to children.

Soon I became a part of Dr Devsare's family.Mrs Vibha Devsare was very affectionate to my daughter and son too.She used to invite us for dinner .He was fond of good food, good friends.

The only dream Dr Devsare saw that there should be an independent and autonomous Council of Children's Literature in the country could not come true in spite of my best efforts. We have miles to go for making his dream a reality.
