SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police is fighting a proxy war for the last 30 years and its personnel have given supreme sacrifices which have earned respect of people across the country, Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid said here today.nnHe said a number of jawans and officers of the force have scarified their lives for the security and integrity of the nation and the force is still struggling for peace in the state.nn”Jammu and Kashmir Police is fighting a proxy war for last 30 years and by its supreme sacrifices the force has earned respect of people of the country.nn”A number of jawans and officers of the force have scarified their precious lives for the security and integrity of the nation and are still struggling for peace in the state,” Vaid said, addressing an attestation-cum-passing out parade of 5th batch of recruit constables at Commando Training Centre (CTC) Lethpora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.nnVaid advised the new 790 recruits to work with dedication for peace in the state.nn”Police service is a noble service and the passing out recruits have a pride to join the family of Jammu and Kashmir Police for the service of the nation,” he said.nnB B Vyas, Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor, who was the chief guest on the occasion, lauded the role of the police force for upholding professionalism amid challenging situation.nn”I congratulate the police force for continuously working for the welfare of the people with dedication. I am proud of the Jammu and Kashmir police for proving its mettle in the difficult times,” he said.nnVyas said there are many more challenges ahead for the police force in view of a series of upcoming elections.nnWe have decided to hold local bodies polls and police has to deal with this challenge and fulfill its role, he said.nnThe Advisor said the whole nation salutes the courage of J-K Police personnel and everyone pays tribute to their supreme sacrifices.nnComplementing the newly trained constables for graduating into a new field of duty, Vyas asked them to perform their job with sincerity and dedication.nnSource: Press Trust of India
