MUMBAI: Newly-elected NCP MLAs in Maharashtra will meet here on October 30 to elect the leader of the House, party sources said on Saturday.nnNCP chief Sharad Pawar will also attend the meeting, to be held at the party’s headquarters here, they said.nnThe decision on who would become the Leader of Opposition (LoP) will be taken after government is formed in the state, sources added.nnNames of Maharashtra NCP chief Jayant Patil, party general secretary Jitendra Awhad and Dhananjay Munde, who is currently LoP in the Legislative Council, are in the contention for Assembly LoP post, sources said.nnThe NCP won 54 seats, more than ally Congress which had to be content with 44 seats in the October 21 elections.nnMaha BJP MLAs to meet on Oct 30 to elect leader of HousennThe Maharashtra BJP has convened a meeting of its newly-elected MLAs on October 30 to elect the leader of the House, state unit chief Chandrakant Patil said on Saturday.nnPatil said the meeting will be held in Vidhan Bhavan at 1pm.nnMeanwhile, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is in touch with 15 MLAs, Independents as well as from smaller parties, for support.nnThe BJP returned a less-than-impressive performance in the state Assembly polls, with its seats dropping from 122 to 105 in the 288-member House.nnSource: Press Trust of India
