NEW DELHI: Congress President Rahul Gandhi has appointed former union minister Jitendra Singh as in-charge of the party’s affairs in charge of Odisha but he has ignored Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Prasad Harichandan’s replacement.
“Congress President Rahul Gandhi has appointed Jitendra Singh, ex-union minister as AICC incharge of Odisha, in place of B K Hariprasad,” said a second statement.
The second order also said the party appreciates the hard work and contribution of Hariprasad, “who will be stepping down from his responsibility as AICC General secretary Incharge, Odisha”.
Removal of of Hariprasad as the Odisha in-charge was one of the demands of the pro-changers who want president of Harichandan to be replaced following the party’s humiliating defeat in 2017 panchayat polls and by-poll to Bijepur Assembly constituency in which the party candidate lost his deposit.
But it could not happen,
