Ajay Kumar Bhalla appointed new Power Secretary

NEW DELHI (INDIA): Senior IAS officer Ajay Kumar Bhalla was appointed as Power Secretary in the vacancy caused on superannuation of the present incumbent P.K.Pujari, lAS from Gujarat cadre and belong to 1980 batch on 30.06.2017nnBhalla, a 1984 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, is presently  Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).nnBefore joining DGFT, Bhalla worked as Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce  with effect from 13th April, 2015.nnHe also functioned as Designated Authority, Directorate General Anti Dumpingsince 4th August, 2015.nnDuring his tenure he happened to dispose off 58 cases including important anti-dumping cases relating to steel sector.nnPrior to this assignment Bhalla worked as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Coal  with effect from 1st July 2010 and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, from 8th January 2015 to 12th April, 2015.nnIn this assignment he dealt with allocation and allotment of coal blocks. In previous assignments in Government of India, Shri Bhalla has worked as Director (Ports) in the Department of Shipping, from May 2002 to March 2005 and looked after the Port Operations and Human Resource Development matters of all the Major Ports in the country.nnSubsequently, he worked as Joint Secretary (Ports) from April 2005 to May 2007 in the Department of Shipping and looked after Port Development, Port Operations, HRD matters relating to Major Ports.nnBhalla has also handled various assignments in the cadre in the States of Assam & Meghalaya.nn nn nn
