Amit Khare appointed new I&B secretary

NEW DELHI: IAS officer Amit Khare has been appointed as Secretary Information & Broadcasting. He is Additional Chief Secretary in Jharkhand government since 2016.nnHe is a 1985 batch Indian Administrative Service Officer. Khare will take over the charge from incumbent NK Sinha who superannuates on May 31.nnSome of the important posts served by him include: District Magistrate in Darbhanga from 1992 – 1994; District Magistrate in West Singhbum from 1995 – 1997; District Magistrate in Patna from 1999 – 2000; Secretary in Ministry of Information Broadcasting Govt of Jharkhand from 2002 – 2003; Principal Secy to Governor from 2004 – 2008 and Jt Secy in Ministry of HRD, Govt of India 2008 – 2014 (when Smt Smriti Irani was in Ministry of HRD)nnKhare has done BSc in Physics and is an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. Earlier there were strong rumours that 1983 batch Himachal IAS officer, Upma Chaudhary was being considered for the role, however the final decision went in favour of Khare, who was announced as MIB Secretary on Friday night in what is a reshuffle by the Government as it gears up for the General Elections as its five-year term comes to an end in May 2019.nn nn
