Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir is new Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court

NEW DELHI: The President on Thursday appointed Jammu and Kashmir High Court judge Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir as the new Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya. Justice Sen is presently the acting Chief Justice of the high court.nnJustice Sen was serving as the lone judge of the high court after the retirement of Justice Tarun Agarwala who had served as Chief Justice.nnJustice Mir will be the sixth Chief Justice of the high court since its inauguration in March 2013.nnHe was born on 28-05-1957 at Village Rajpora, Pulwama. Did his LL.B from Kashmir University, joined the Bar and practised as Advocate from 1981 to 1993.nnHe appointed as District & sessions Judge on 27th of May 1993.Remained posted as Principal District & Sessions Judge, Baramulla, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Anantnag, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar, Special Judge, Anti Corruption, Kashmir, Registrar General, High Court of J&K and Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar.nnAttended ?International Conference on Arbitration (ICCA). Was granted selection grade in July 2001 and was placed in Super Time Scale in April, 2007.nnElevated as Additional Judge of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on 23.11.2007. Appointed as permanent Judge of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on 01.10.2009. Functioned as Acting Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir from 05.01.2015 to 02.02.2015.
